Flood Warning remains in effect along the Ottawa River from Pembroke to Arnprior

The Ministry of Natural Resources – Pembroke District is advising residents that a Flood Warning remains in effect along the Ottawa River from Pembroke to Arnprior, with the Westmeath area particularly affected. The warning is expected to remain in place through Tuesday, May 19, 2026, unless updated or replaced.

Water levels on the Ottawa River remain high. While some areas are experiencing stabilization or slight decreases, residents are urged to remain vigilant as freshet continues in the northern portions of the watershed.

Residents with properties near rivers or lakes that have been affected by high water or strong flow conditions in the past are advised to take necessary precautions to protect vulnerable property. Regular monitoring of local conditions and updated warnings is strongly recommended.

The Ministry continues to closely track weather patterns and watershed conditions. Elevated water levels and flows along the Ottawa River are expected to persist due to spring runoff from central and northern parts of the basin, combined with continued warm temperatures. Snowmelt in the northern basin is expected to continue throughout the coming week.

Low-lying areas are particularly at risk of flooding, and existing high-water conditions may persist. Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather forecasts, special weather statements, and flood warnings closely and to take appropriate precautions.
