Flood Warning extended for the Ottawa Valley

The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources has extended its flood warning for the Ottawa Valley.

In its latest advisory, the ministry’s Pembroke District—responsible for Renfrew County and Algonquin Park—has prolonged the warning through Wednesday, April 29, citing recent rainfall and ongoing melting of snowpack and lake ice flowing from the northern portion of the watershed.

Combined with sustained warm temperatures, these conditions are expected to keep water levels and river flows elevated between Pembroke and Arnprior as spring runoff continues to move through the system.

Several communities have already reported high water levels and minor shoreline flooding. The ministry advises that residents currently experiencing these conditions should expect them to persist in the coming days.

Residents in affected areas are urged to take precautionary measures to protect vulnerable property near rivers and lakes and to stay informed by monitoring updates from the ministry and local authorities.
