Fire Chief Chris Sarazin Receives Prestigious Anishinabek Lifetime Achievement Award

A lifetime of community service was recently recognized for Fire Chief Chris Sarazin.  This past week, Fire Chief Sarazin received the prestigious Anishinabek Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Anishinabek Evening of Excellence, held in Rama.

This distinguished honour recognizes individuals whose exceptional leadership, lifelong dedication, and commitment have made a lasting and meaningful impact within their communities and across the Anishinabek Nation.

For more than 30 years, Fire Chief Sarazin has dedicated himself to protecting the health, safety, and well-being of the Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation. Through his longstanding leadership with the Pikwàkanagàn Fire Department, he has played an important role in strengthening emergency response services, advancing fire prevention and public education, mentoring generations of firefighters, and supporting emergency preparedness and community safety.

Chief Greg Sarazin, who nominated Fire Chief Sarazin for the award, took to the podium during the awards ceremony to share his congratulations with the more than 100 people in attendance and reflect on Chris's many years of dedicated service.

“Chris has dedicated his life to serving and protecting our community. His leadership, professionalism, compassion, and commitment have made a lasting difference in the lives of our people. It was an honour and a privilege to nominate Chris for this prestigious recognition, and I am incredibly proud to see him receive the Anishinabek Lifetime Achievement Award.”

The recognition is a testament not only to Fire Chief Sarazin's extraordinary career, but also to the positive and lasting impact he has had on the safety and well-being of the Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation.
