Through Stewardship, conservation and support for traditional practices, our department works to safeguard Natural Resources while embracing and promoting the continuation of our Algonquin ways for the benefit of the community and future generations.

-Climate Change and Sustainability- Developing strategies for adaptation, mitigation, and long-term resilience

-Earthwalkers – Summer Stewardship Youth Rangers Program

The Earthwalkers (SYR) program offers our young people the chance to reconnect with the land, water, and all living beings. Rooted in traditional teachings and guided by community knowledge keepers, this program helps youth gain hands-on experience in caring for the environment. Rangers take part in projects that protect wildlife, restore habitats, and support the health of our territories for the next generations. Along the way, they build leadership skills, strengthen cultural identity, and learn the importance of giving back to the land that sustains us. This program is about more than just summer work—it is about carrying forward the responsibility of stewardship, honouring our ancestors, and advocating for future generations.
