Ontario Works
Ontario Works provides essential financial and employment supports to Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation (AOPFN) members living in the community of Pikwakanagan, ON. The program is designed to help individuals and families meet their basic needs while also offering opportunities to build skills, access training, and move toward long-term stability and independence.
For eligible AOPFN members, Ontario Works offers financial assistance that helps cover daily living expenses such as food, shelter, and other basic necessities. Our staff work closely with community members to ensure support is provided with respect, confidentiality, and an understanding of individual circumstances.
In addition to financial assistance, we provide access to valuable Training Resources through the Social Assistance Transfer Fund (SATF). These resources help participants pursue education, certifications, or training programs that improve employment readiness and open pathways to meaningful careers. Whether someone is beginning a new training journey or upgrading existing skills, the SATF is an important tool for achieving long-term goals.
Ontario Works also offers a range of Employment Supports tailored to the needs of each participant. This can include resume development, job-search assistance, interview preparation, work gear, transportation assistance, and other supports that help individuals prepare for and secure employment. Our team works one-on-one with members to help identify strengths, interests, and opportunities that align with their goals.
Support is also available for Non-Social Assistance Recipients (Non-SARS). These individuals may access certain employment-related supports on a case-by-case basis. Approvals for Non-SARS assistance are based on individual needs, training opportunities, and employment objectives.
Ontario Works in Pikwakanagan is committed to empowering AOPFN members, strengthening economic participation, and supporting the overall well-being of our community.
