Daycare – Mindiwin Manido "Gifts from the Spirit"

About Us

At Mindiwin Maindo Daycare, we nurture the whole child spiritually, emotionally, socially cognitively, and physically - through a culturally grounded and inclusive approach. Rooted in the values of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation, our program is guided by the Seven Grandfather Teachings:

  • Wisdom
  • Love
  • Respect
  • Bravery
  • Honesty
  • Humility
  • Truth

These teachings shape how we interact, learn, and grow together, creating a safe a respectful environment where children feel a deep sense of belonging and connection to their community and culture.

We also follow the principles of "How Does Learning Happen?" Ontario's Pedagogical Framework, which emphasizes:

  • Belonging - feeling connected to others valued
  • Well-being - nurturing physical and emotional health
  • Engagement - being curious and involved in learning
  • Expression - communicating thoughts, feelings, and ideas

Our program statement is a living document, evolving alongside our children, families and staff. It reflects our ongoing commitment to culture, revitalization, community connection, and lifelong learning.

We are licensed under Ontario's Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 to provide:
