Extreme Cold Warning Issued
Extreme Cold Warning in Effect
An extreme cold warning is in effect due to dangerous wind chill values ranging from minus 33 to minus 38. These conditions are expected early this morning and pose a serious risk to anyone exposed to the cold for even short periods of time.
Community members are urged to take extra precautions when outdoors. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, particularly when wind chill is a factor. Dress in warm, layered clothing, cover all exposed skin, and limit time spent outside whenever possible.
Please also remember your animals during this extreme cold. If it is too cold for you to remain outdoors, it is too cold for your pet as well. Pets should be kept indoors and provided with warm, dry shelter.
Be alert for signs of frostbite or cold-related injury, including changes in skin colour on fingers or toes, pain, numbness, tingling sensations, or swelling. If any of these symptoms occur, move indoors immediately and begin warming the affected areas.
Staying informed and taking precautions can help keep you, your family, and your pets safe during this extreme weather event.
