Consultation and Engagement

The Consultation and Engagement Department of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation believes, upholds and asserts these values:

  • We, the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation, have lived in our Unceded Traditional Territory since time immemorial, practicing our ways and living according to our laws and culture.
  • We continue to assert and exercise our Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation Rights and Title
    in all parts of our territory.
  • We are committed to Respecting and Protecting our Territory and the Interests of all our members and therefore we understand the value of establishing relationships while ensuring our Rights, Title, and Interests are fully recognized, respected and protected.
  • Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation Rights and Interests include rights to hunt, fish, trap, to harvest for food and medicine, to protect burial sites and other sacred sites, to sustain and strengthen our spiritual and cultural connection to the land, to govern ourselves, to participate in all governance and operational decisions about how the land and resources will be managed, used and protected.

The Consultation and Engagement Department of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation ensures that Engagement and Accommodation Requirements for Proposed Developments in our Territory are met.
