NADAP
Counsellor: Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program is a prevention based program. We provide confidential counseling for community members with alcohol and/or drug problems at their home or the Health Services office. Referrals to other services are made as well as networking with other First Nation NADAP workers when required. On the prevention side, we offer monthly pre-teen and teen dances, family sobriety dances, problem gambling workshops and theatre presentations. We reflect upon our Algonquin Culture by offering Sacred Pipe ceremonies, Sweat Lodges, Family Healing Circles and Smudging. We promote our native heritage, spirituality, and encourage and support a healthy lifestyle. “Oh Great Spirit who’s voice I hear in the wind, who’s breath gives me life to all the world. Please hear me, I stand before you as one of your children, I’m small and weak. Let me walk in beauty and make my eye’s behold the red and purple sunset. Make my hand respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice. Make me wise so that I may know things you have taught my people. The lesson hidden under every leaf and rock. I seek strength not to be superior to my brothers and sisters but to fight my greatest enemy, myself. Make me ever ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes, so that when life fades as the fading sunset my spirit may come to you.” Click
