Mental Health - Outreach Worker













Mental Health Outreach Worker:
Peggy Dick
Provides community members with mental and emotional support, make referrals for necessary care. Provides individual, family, group and community support related to mental health.

Other Health and Mental Health Services referrals and support

Advocacy & Support Services:
This service provided by the Mental Health Outreach Worker consists of initial client intake (all necessary and required client information), client assessments, and to ensure appropriate referrals for the best care for the client.

Counselling:
The Mental Health Outreach Worker offers counseling services one on one, in family situations or group settings. All counselling sessions are strictly confidential. Counselling sessions allow clients time for and sharing any concerns they may have about many aspects of life. Talking is healing. Able to provide a variety of psycho education materials. Refer to traditional supports when requested related to Mental Health.

Psychologist Referrals:
The Mental Health Outreach Worker can make referrals to psychologists for more in depth client care.


Other Mental and Health Services Referrals and Support:
Has developed linkages to numerous other agencies related to health, mental health, women supports, child and youth mental health, critical, stress management, etc.

Child and Youth Mental Health Project
The Child and Youth Mental Health Project is a three year community based initiative that will provide culturally appropriate services for Aboriginal children and youth between the ages of 0-18 years of age. The services provided will be for children and youth/families outside the community within a 30 km radius of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan (Golden Lake) community. Some of the direct client services include: Prevention, Education, Intake and Assessment, Early Intervention, Case Management, Therapeutic Counselling, Peer Mentoring, and Healing Circles. The Child and Youth Mental Health Project consists of an Elder, Child and Youth Therapist, Child and Youth Worker, Child and Youth Coordinator/Support Worker and the Project Supervisor. Any one of the team members can be contacted at 613-625-2259 ext. 234 Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
