Manido
Chiman - spirit of the canoe, is the theme of our Algonquin Heritage Centre.
The museum is constructed of very old logs and is located in the centre
of the community. The museum provides visitors with a walk through history
and to where we are now.
Our Heritage Centre is our Museum
and displays the following:

- 100 year old Birchbark Canoes
- Handcrafted Snow Shoes
- Antique Pottery and Baskets
- Antique weapons, tools, and cutlery
- Handcrafted Regalia
- History of the community detailed through photographs and newspaper

Crafts
The museum also has recently added a new additon on to the musueum. This
new section includes a wide variety of beautiful and original hand made
craft work created by community members and youth. Beautiful and intricate
Dream Catchers fill the museum, along with jewelery, artwork, sweaters,
fleece, t-shirts, and hats. All these items are available for sale.
Curator
Ross Commanda functions as Museum Curator. He handles and displays all
artifacts and acts as Tour Guide for guests. He provides Algonquin Cultural
demonstrations and offers program activities. He is responsible for the
Community Memories Program, and updating Museum Exhibits.
