Administration

Pikwàkanagàn
manages their own Administration for the community. Six different
departments are directed by separate managers. We
have established ourselves as a working community with control of
our own Administration. The
Administration Office offers the following services:
· Education
· Economic Initiatives
· Social Services
· Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Worker
· Medical Transportation Services
· Lands, Estates and Membership
· Public Works
The
Administration building now brings together Finance, Social Services,
Education, Economic Development, Public Works, Land/Estates and Membership
as well as Chief and Council. For links to each
department click on the graphics at the left. Health is located
in a separate building next to the Administration building.
The
present building was finished construction in July of 2003. Built
under budget in record time by trained community members, the Adminstration
building is a testament to the skill and talent of community members.
The new building was created to ease crowding concerns and houses
almost 70 members in 8,400 square feet.
The
new building symbolizes both the growth of our community and the initiative
we are undertaking in respect to self-government. Chief Kirby Whiteduck
said, “I think we have come a long way in how we can take care
ourselves, our elders and our children. It is symbolic of the great
progress made to provide services for our members and ourselves. This
is something we can all be proud of.”
